Google Traffic Report Carddoes Your Website Pass Part 1

Writen by Leah J Bradshaw

This is part 1 of a 7 part series that examines the 7 factors of incoming links that Google considers when choosing a spot for your website in it's SERP's.

Why incoming links? First because these are what Google places the highest value on. But, all incoming links are NOT created equal. This 7 part course looks at the kinds of links Google values when "rating" your website in the SERP's. Each type of link discussed is important to your overall link strategy and consequently your free traffic levels.

The first factor is of course the anchor text used in your incoming links. The importance of the keywords used to link to your website are more important to Google than the content that is actually on your page. You can generally use anchor link text with your keywords and not even have the keywords on the page and still get a good ranking in Google for that term if enough incoming links have that keyword pharse in them.

If you've heard of the phrase "Google Bombing" then you know what I'm talking about. Basically it's when a set of webmasters or blog owners decide to get a page ranked for a certain term and all leave links back to the selected site with the keyword phrase that they want that page to rank for.

The most notorious example of this is the "bombing" done by several blog owners to the George W Bush biograpby page. Several bloggers left links to the page containing the keyword text "miserable failure" and consequently this page turns up as the number 1 result in Google for the term, even though the words don't appear anywhere on the page.

The "Google Bombing" was done by at most a few hundred links with this link text pointing to the page. Though more links would probably be necissary for a more competative term. Still, it goes to show how important link text is to the rankings of a page.

Google Bombing is nothing new. But what many people don't realize is that Google places more relevance on the anchor link text that it finds when it first discovers a link to your website. Each consequent link either adds value to that first impression or subtracts from it.

Many times you can control which link google finds first just by knowing where google goes regularly (like on a daily basis) and effectively placing your link in it's path. This is called "baiting" the google bot to visit your website through this link.

Each link you place after this initial link should further show google that their first impression (or the first keywords it discovered that linked to your website) was and still is correct. Each subsiquent link is a "vote" so to speak to validate Google's original impression of what your website is about.

Placing that first link to be found by Google is only the first step, but a very important one. Choose your anchor text keywords carefully. Each incoming link you place after this one should serve to validate this first impression. Part 2 will discuss the appearance and disappearance of links over time and how they effect your traffic and search engine placement.

Beating The New Google Adword Rules With Blogs And Rss

Writen by Hong Brandon

When Google Adwords first came on scene, it was not immediately apparent to most people how to utilize the system to create wealth, until John Carpenter popularised it with his Google Cash system, a book he wrote some time back.

Since then, Google Adwords has become one of the main traffic generation tools for most affiliates. It was the fastest way to generate traffic.

By now, most people would have learnt about the latest Google Ruling on their Adwords' programs

Basically it goes like this:

1) Google will only display two ads for the same website at the same time AND only ads with the best click thru rate,

2) You can remove the three letter word 'aff' from your ads, if you are a reseller.

How do you ensure you are the top 2 ads besides having to bid up keywords until your nose bleed?

With this new ruling, there will only be 2 ads displayed at any one time, and only for ads that has the best click through rates.

The rationale is that there isn't any value add to show multiple ads that all point to the same web site.

In any case, experienced affiliate marketers would probably capture the email address of the person who clicked on the Google Ad, rather than directing the person straight away to the vendor's web site;

So there goes an easy and fast way to get traffic

So how do we counter the latest 'dance' from Google?

I have a solution which targets to key areas of concern:

1. Offering Value Add content through the use of Blogs

2. Getting F.R.E.E Traffic with RSS Feeds

Thousands of blog communities are sprining up all over the Net, and depending on what you are trying to market (as an affiliate) you can easily set up a blog centered just around the topic which relates to that product.

If you're selling slimming pills, you can have a blog just related to weight loss. Next, turn your blog into an rss feed and syndicate it all over the Net, by submitting to the 27 major blog directories and 41 major rss directories.

(There might be more at time of writing, but these are the main ones I submit to.)

Besides it's ability as a traffic tool, blogs give your potential clients value add in terms of useful contents you make.

Since you have to make postings to your blog, you are in a way 'forced' to study the area in which you want to market (e.g. weight loss) and provide good value add information, very much like a 'consultant'.

Which in a way is good for anyone wanting to build a sustainable business and stay in the 'game' in the long run.

Search Engine Friendly Pages

Writen by Tristan Jud

Ok it has been awhile since I wrote on this topic. But here goes!

Please Note: These are only tips, and will not be enough to provide top positions for desired keywords. If you wish to gain better results please contact me and we can develop a campaign to suite your needs.

Meta Tags

There are many meta tags you can include in your web page. (For those that don't know your meta tags are included in between the tags of the website).

The most important tags to include are Title, Keywords, & Description.

The all important Title tag

This is really the most important tag to include on your website. A properly optimised website would have different title tags for each individual page. If you notice most of the top search engine results have the keyword your searched for in the title of the website, Sometimes it is even duplicated.

It is important to include your desired keyword near the beginning of your Title.

Most companies would opt to have there company name as the first keyword in the Title. Although this is pleasing to the eye, it is not to the search engine algorithms. A title tag limit should be between 70 to 80 characters.

The Description tag

This tag is important for two reasons. 1. The search engine robot crawls the tag to get an idea of what the page is about. 2. The tag is often shown under the page title in search results.

It is important to have a keyword rich description however it must be written in a coherent phrase. The length of a description tag is somewhat of a mystery but we suggest somewhere to the maximum length of 255 characters.

Make sure your important keywords are towards the front of the description. As with the title tag a properly optimised website will have different descriptions for each page.

Last but not least! The Keyword tag

Although it is tipped that major search engines such as google don't use this meta tag to rank your site, there are still plenty of search engines that do.

The idea which is much the same as many of the other meta tags is to put your important keywords up the front.

The keywords section should be around 800-1000 characters. This is the estimate provided by some search engines. I personally wouldn't work to hard on this section, but it is important depending on the search engine.

If you are using our content management system enter your page configuration administration section, and you can change the meta tags for each page there. If you are interested in our content management system the please contact me.

Hope this little guide helps. As I said if you wish to gain better results please contact me and we can develop a campaign to suite your needs.

Free Tips On How To Increase Your Google Page Rank

Writen by Steve Hill

Many people who have a website are looking at the best ways of increasing their google page rank. In this article I give free tips on how I believe you should go about doing this. These techniques are what I use on all of my websites.

For me by far and away the most important thing we all need to do is to obtain as many backward links to our website as possible. This should be an ongoing project as to suddenly for example buy a thousand links and to then not add to these, is not natural. My advice is a steady increase in these links daily. I also would certainly not ever buy a thousand links anyway.

So far we have established that we require lots and lots of backward links, the next question is how to obtain them. There are two types of links, reciprocal and non reciprocal. Non reciprocal links are of much higher value as they are seemingly harder to get.

Non reciprocal links

To ask a person who has a website to add a link to your website for no reason, or without you adding a link back in return, is unlikely to meet a positive response.

To obtain these non reciprocal links my advice is to:

Write articles. Writing articles is an excellent way of gaining non reciprocal or one way links. Other webmasters are able to use your article including the links to your website on their site. The article website you submit the article to also gives you this one way link on their site.

Get a blog. Blogging is likely to become the next big thing on the internet. If you add a link to your main website on the blog this could then appear on every page. Over time a blog could have hundreds of pages.

Purchase a link text ad. It may be worthwhile purchasing a link text ad from a quality well established website. This should attract visitors to your site plus has the added page rank value for the backward link.

Reciprocal links

In any link management campaign it is also useful to obtain as many reciprocal links aswell. My advice would be to join a scheme such as linkmetro, this saves a huge amount of time, which could be better spent writing articles.

Is Quotpage Not Foundquot Making Google Tell The World Quotsite Not Foundquot

Writen by Daiv Russell

Search Engines are hard to tame, that's for sure. But if you can get on their good side, search can be your biggest ally when it comes to generating tons of free traffic to your business web site. Not many people understand how search engines think. So, search engine "optimization" ends up either ignored or left up to highly paid experts.

You can do this yourself, or at least very affordably

Here's a quick tip that you can put to use immediately that doesn't require any specialized knowledge of the Internet. You can do this yourself if you know how to program HTML. Or, if you don't, you can hire someone far more affordably than a Web Marketing guru to handle this for you. In fact, if you're considering hiring a Web promotion expert to maximize your website's placement in the search engines, you're really better off doing as much of the housecleaning yourself as you can, before you call in the big guns. Otherwise, you'll waste your money having them take care of trivial things you could handle yourself.

What Do Search Engines Think About?

Before I let you in on this simple secret, let me explain a little bit about how search engines "think". You see, the job of a search engine, like Google, for example, is to make sure that people find a web page that's incredibly likely to have the exact information they're hunting for. The search engine does this by measuring and comparing two aspects of billions of pages: Popularity and Relevance.

Don't get me wrong, just because it's two things, doesn't make it easy. To compute popularity and relevance requires tons and tons of processing power. In fact, Google only updates its popularity information once a month or so because it's such a huge effort.

Is Your Page "Relevant"?

To determine whether your page comes up when someone searches, Google asks of your page: "Are you relevant to this search?" For example, a certain page might be the most popular page about socks and have the best information about socks you would ever want. But, if you're looking for a new muffler, that page is not at all relevant, now is it?

Is this Accident Making Your Whole Site Less Relevant?

Having the world's best information on mufflers isn't enough to get you to the top of the heap, either... not if you make this easy mistake that seems to happen on nearly every web site at one time or another.

What is this silly mistake made on too many websites? Broken Links. You might recognize the error you see when you click on one and your browser says "404 Not Found" or "404 page not found".

Intelligent search engines will subtract points from your search relevance if you have broken links on your web site. Not just your home page, mind you – anywhere on your site at all. You see, the search engines view broken links as "stale" content. And as we covered earlier, the job of the search engine is to give the best possible results.

Maybe you've kept old links around when your web site was redesigned. Maybe you've linked to a buddy's business, and now that web site is long gone. Maybe it was a simple typo... Hey! It could happen to anybody.

In the end, having broken links anywhere on your website will hurt your placement in search engine results. Before calling in an expert to help you with your search engine placement, make sure you double and triple check your web site for broken links.
